Lubricant additives manufacturer and distributor MidContinental Chemical Co., Inc., recently relocated its corporate headquarters from Overland Park, Kan. to nearby Olathe, Kan., adding local warehousing capabilities and new laboratory testing capabilities.
Our new facility combines headquarters, research, development and analytical services with warehousing, said MidContinental spokesman Everett Osgood. Our growing lubricant additive group is particularly enthused about its new testing capabilities.
Osgood told Lube Report that while the testing is currently mostly fuel, which is the companys strength, the next year will bring more lubricants-related testing abilities. Among the tests the lab currently runsare flash point, pour point, kinematic viscosity, cold crank and demulsibility tests.
During 2008 we will add extreme pressure/antiwear capabilities, facilities to make pilot quantities of viscosity index improvers, and a lube oil oxidation lab, he said.
According to Osgood, the new headquarters encompasses about 15,000 square feet of space. The company moved into the new location on Dec. 21.
MidContinental, established in 1994, has 11 sales offices throughout North America. The company provides additives to the petroleum industry, including to petroleum terminals, lube oil manufacturers, pipeline operators and aftermarket producers.
Through arrangement with Chevron Oronite, MidContinental offers a line of automotive, specialty, industrial and component oil additives, including the Paratone family of viscosity index improvers. It offers both Oronite and MidContinental Chemical Co.-branded lubricant additives in bulk and packaged form, for a variety of applications.
In June 2006, MidContinental became the distributor for North American lubricant and fuel markets for Albemarle Corps Ethanox-branded antioxidant products, which stabilize lube oils, gasoline, diesel, biodiesel blends and other chemical products.
