Gazprom Marine Oil Business Grows

Gazpromneft-Lubricants increased its marine oil sales by 7.5 percent in the first six months of 2017, compared to the year-earlier period, expanding the geography of its sales through integration in the Chevron global logistics network.

The company is a licensed manufacturer and dealer of Chevrons Texaco-branded line of marine oils. In the first half of 2017, the company sold 7,400 tons of marine oils, up 555 tons from the same period of time last year, the company said.

In Russia, the company expanded its marine lube sales in the Caspian Sea ports of Astrakhan and Makhachkala. Gazpromneft-Lubricants will supply Rosmorport agency with 1,500 tons of oils during a three year period. The first shipment was to Makhachkala port for the agency’s dredging vessel Dniester.”

The most demanded products in the first half of 2017 were cylinder engine oils Texaco Taro 30 DP 40 and Delo 1000 Marine 40 for four-stroke marine engines, a company representative told Lube Report last week. We also increased nine-fold, to 140 tons, the sales of lubricants for marine engines operating on low sulfur and environmentally friendly fuel.

Gazpromneft-Lubricants, the lube arm of oil major Gazprom Neft, is one of Russias largest marketers for lubricants used in river and sea vessels. With integration in Chevrons global logistics network, the companys marine oils are available in more than 800 ports worldwide.

“One of the companys main objectives in 2017 is to improve the technical services level, business efficiency and expansion of sales geography, said Roman Miroshnichenko, head of the companys marine oils business unit.

Gazpromneft-Lubricants supplies Texaco-branded marine oils to a number of companies and agencies such as Sovcomflot, Rosmorport, Rosnefteflot, Norilsk Nickel and other Russian and foreign shipowners.

After Lukoil and Rosneft, Gazprom Neft is the third largest lubricant marketer in Russia. In 2016, it held 15 percent of the countrys lube market and produced around 500,000 tons of base oils and finished lubricants. The company’s six lubricant blending plants are located in Russia, Italy and Serbia.

It sells marine oils in a number of European countries, such as Ukraine and the Baltic states, as well as in Central Asia.
