Softer Chlorinated Paraffin Ban Advised for EU

A subcommittee of the European Chemicals Agency recommended recently that medium-chain chlorinated paraffins be phased out of use in metalworking fluids by 2036.

Modrica Refinery Posts Further Losses

Bosnian base oil and lubricant producer Rafinarija Ulja Modrica ended the first half of this year with a net loss of 1.1 million convertible marks, a slight improvement from results in the same period last year. The company shed some of its workforce to help cope with the losses.

ACEA Updates Light-Duty Oil Sequences for 2023

The European Automobile Manufacturers Association on Sept. 12 announced it revised its ACEA Engine Oil Sequences for light-duty engines this year to address needs for engine oils with low viscosity – lower than the European market having 0W-20 grades – as part of the broad drive to improve fuel economy.
