The Fuchs Group acquired Zimmark Inc., a Canadian company offering services in the lubricants and chemicals process management space to improve manufacturing plant production efficiency, effective Nov. 1. Terms were not disclosed.
Based in Burlington, Ontario, Zimmark employs 60 people and generated 4 million (U.S. $4.4 million) in sales in fiscal year 2018, all of that in North America. The acquired business will operate as a separate chemicals process management division of Fuchs North American industrial business, according to a Fuchs news release.
“Lubricants – no matter whether they are industrial oils, corrosion preventives or metalworking fluids – directly or indirectly affect production efficiency,” a Fuchs spokesperson explained to Lube Report. “The continuous improvement of all production processes is a vital investment in the future of a company. With [chemicals process management] services, Fuchs supports its customers along this path. The CPM team acts on-site as specialists for lubricants and related applications and provides the customers with proven and optimized solutions to take full advantage of the performance of the lubricants used.”
The spokesperson described Zimmark as a fluid management service company that utilizes its method called Z-TPM, or Zimmark – Technical Process Management, to manage customers non-core processes through establishment and following of rigorous control plans. Zimmark on its website describes non-core processes as those that exist to support the primary objective of a manufacturing plant. “But because they lack systems, expertise or data driven execution, the processes are resulting in significant waste within a facility,” Zimmark states on its website.
“Fuchs will utilize Zimmark’s expertise to join with already established Fuchs CPM methods to offer our customers in North America a further enhanced service offering for fluid management,” the spokesperson said.
With the acquisition, Fuchs said it expands its service portfolio in the industrial lubricant market and will deploy Zimmark’s processes where applicable throughout its other global divisions.
Mannheim, Germany-based Fuchs Petrolub is the world’s largest independent lubricant manufacturer. Fuchs Lubricants Co., USA has 420 employees and made 284 million in sales in 2018.
