OQ Chemicals Ups Carboxylic Acids Prices

Germany-based OQ Chemicals announced it will increase prices for its range of carboxylic acids due to supply and demand pressure, effective Jan. 1 2025, or as contracts allow, the company announced via email.

In North America, n-Heptanoic acid, a substance used to formulate metalworking fluids, has gone up by U.S. $0.07 per pound ($154 per metric ton), in Europe by €150/t and in the rest of the world by €160/t.

Also going up is the price of Oxlube L9-TMP, the company’s specialty ester and drop in for C8/C10 trimethylolpropane ester launched in 2022. North Americans will have to shell out an extra $0.10/lb ($220/t) for Oxlube L9-TMP, Europeans €200/t more and the rest of the world $210/t.

Oxlube is used to make engine and gear oils, among other applications.

OQ Chemicals manufactures alcohols, polyols, carboxylic acids, specialty esters and amines. They are used in a wide variety of appliucations including lubricants.
