Gazpromneft-Lubricants sold 353,000 metric tons of finished lubricants in 2016, barely more than its sales of 351,000 tons in 2015.

The company, the lubricant arm of the Russian oil major Gazprom Neft, reported Feb. 3 that it continues increasing the proportion of its sales volumes that are premium lubes. It sold 258,000 tons of products that it defines as premium in 2016, up from 222,000 tons in 2015.

In 2016 our Russian and international sales of high quality finished products increased by 16 percent each, compared to the year before, the company said in a Feb. 3 press release. Total sales of our flagship motor oil brand, G-Energy, rose 30 percent to 41,000 tons. Last year we also increased our marine oil sales in Russia by 10 percent compared to 2015.

Gazpromneft-Lubricants now claims to hold 36 percent of Russias marine oil market. Gazprom Neft reported sales of 80,000 tons of base oils in 2016, not counting volumes that it used in-house to produce its own finished lubes. It also sold 100,000 tons of paraffin waxes and 9,000 tons of technical fluids.

In 2016 Gazpromneft-Lubricants continued with its push on the international markets. The company started to market its products in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, Colombia, India, South Korea, Tunisia, Cambodia, Vietnam and South Africa. It opened a few more car service and fast lube stations in such countries as Georgia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy.

International sales of our G-Energy-branded products rose by 44 percent to 10,000 tons, the company said.

More and more products in our portfolio are complex formulations that underline our companys strategic direction towards technological leadership, said Alexander Trukhan, Gazpromneft-Lubricants general director.

After Lukoil and Rosneft, Gazprom Neft is the third-largest lube marketer in Russia with about 15 percent share of the countrys lube market. It operates four blending plants in Russia, Serbia and Italy. It also operates two base oil plants, a 240,000 t/y AP] Group I refinery in Omsk and a 250,000 t/y Group I base oil plant in Yaroslavl that is a joint venture with Rosneft.
