Emulsifier Earns Patent

Stoney Creek Technologies has been granted a patent on new emulsifier technology, and is using it to launch a new emulsion concentrate for water based systems where film forming and/or passive EP characteristics are desired. The new concentrate, SACI 4000C, is based on Stoney Creeks SACI sulfonate technology and this innovative amine-free emulsifier system. SACI 4000C imparts significantly improved corrosion resistance in water based products without introducing toxic or hazardous components, says the company. It is an easily incorporated, low-viscosity additive with very low VOC and virtually no odor. Foreign patents are pending as well. Contact: Paul Morrison, at (610) 859-3524.

Duron Adds CI-4 Plus

Duron 15W-40 and Duron XL Synthetic Blend 15W-40 heavy-duty engine oils now meet API CI-4 Plus – the new specification developed to address the harsh demands of low-emission 2004 diesel engines equipped with EGR systems. Both products are formulated with base oils made by Petro-Canadas HT purity process, and with high-performance additives for even longer fluid life. With the increased soot loads generated by the new low-emission engines, it is essential to use a heavy-duty engine oil with the highest soot-dispersion capabilities available, advises Petro-Canadas Jim Putz. Turn on the Taps

ITW Rocol has launched Rocol Tri-Logic RTD tapping fluid in the United States, for the most-demanding reaming, tapping and drilling operations. The viscous fluid contains EP additives that help improve efficiency and cut costs while significantly reducing friction and giving superb cutting performance, says Rocol. Suitable for all metals including hardened steels, titaniums and stainless steels, Tri-Logic RTD will emulsify into the water mix after use, fortifying the EP cutting properties and enhancing tool life and surface finish. Its emulsibility also means any residue of Tri-Logic on workpieces is easily removed by aqueous cleaners. Phone (800) 452-5823. Web: www. rocolnorthamerica.com

No Plugs Needed

Powered by the sun, Abanaki Corp.s PetroXtractor Solar Skimmer performs in the most remote locations. It is designed to remove oil, fuel and other hydrocarbons from groundwater via recovery or monitoring wells. Choose from three belt widths, for use in 2-, 4-or 5-inch diameter well casings; the widest can remove up to 12 gallons of floating oil per hour. The solar unit permits unattended remediation in areas where no electricity is available or convenient. Its meant for use where there is an average of four hours of sun per day, but will run constantly for five days without sun. Contact Chris Ott at (800) 358-7546. E-mail: cott@abanaki.com. Grinding Pressure

Harry Miller offers Kleerkut 3900, a semi-synthetic coolant with high levels of rust protection and extreme pressure, for both ferrous and nonferrous machining and grinding applications. Used at proper concentrations, it leaves machine parts with a rust-protective coating that combats corrosion during high-humidity conditions or when machines are idle. EP additives allow Kleerkut 3900 to replace traditional soluble oils in CNC machining and even difficult grinding operations, says the company. Contact: Harry Miller Corp., 4309 N.
