Japan’s base oil production for April fell 20 percent compared to the same month last year, according to data recently released by the country’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Base oil production for April fell to 167,796 kiloliters (151,000 metric tons). Compared to the previous month, production fell 14 percent.
The nation imported 17,303 kl of base oil in April. Domestic sales amounted to 106,414 kl, while exports were 66,594 kl. Month-end inventories were 507,518 kl.
Paraffinic wax production reached 10,052 metric tons in April, up 39 percent from 7,212 tons.
The ministry’s full-year data also showed an 8 percent drop to 2.3 million kiloliters (2 million tons) for production volumes in 2019.
